• Info: Arrive, check in and meet the other players while picking up your goody bag at a typically Amsterdam location: Brewery De Prael! The ambience is old Amsterdam, but the beers are forward-thinking and original (there are also wine and non-alcoholic offerings). You’ll also be supporting social entrepreneurship, as De Prael provides employment opportunities for individuals with mental health challenges while creating one of the warmest atmospheres in the city. Please note that if you will not be able to be present at the registration, we kindly request that you ask one of your teammates to register your presence and pick-up your goody bag! 

Tour of IHLIA LGBTI Heritage Archive with Wilfred van Buuren

• Info: This is Europe’s biggest archive of documents that tell the story of the LGBTI community, located on the third floor of the Public Library of Amsterdam. While most of the archive is kept in storage and only available upon request, The Tiger’s very own Wilfred van Buuren, Head of Collections, will tell you the story of the archive and dive into some of the lesser-known and exclusive parts of the collection to highlight events, people and moments in LGBTI history in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Europe through documentation, photographs, videos and other objects and artworks. You’ll be surprised how much you can learn in 1.5 hours!  Become part of the archive by bringing along something LGBTI-related from your own city or country such as a flyer, poster or magazine. Your history will then become part of the IHLIA Collection!

Pride Basketball Tournament

We’ll start bright and early on Friday 4 August for the Amsterdam Pride Basketball Tournament! Please arrive between 8.30 and 9.00 to give yourself enough time to change and warm up, as the first matches will start at 9.30. The schedule will be ready during check-in on Thursday 3 August so you know what times you’ll be playing. There are 14 teams participating across two divisions. The “A” division will have 6 teams, while the “B” division will have 8 teams. Each team will be playing at least five matches.

Open-air party at Bar Prik (Spuistraat)

A group of the Tigers will be heading to the street party outside of Bar Prik to celebrate a successful tournament and enjoy a drink with other basketball players and pride visitors. This party starts at 16.00, and will surely be busy up until midnight. Grab some of your teammates and join the Tigers with DJs, food trucks, drinks and good vibes. 

Pride Canal Parade

• Time: 12.00 – 18.00
• Location: Oosterdok – Nieuwe Herengracht – Amstel – Prinsengracht – Westerdok

• Price: Free, no tickets required
• Info:  The famous Canal Parade runs the length of the Prinsengracht canal, starting in the eastern part of the city near the Scheepvaart Museum and finishing in the west near Westerdok. With around 80 boats, the parade will take all afternoon. For a good viewing spot on the Prinsengracht, be there early (bring your own drinks!) and be sure to walk along the route — there’s many informal parties on various street corners.

Not sure of where to watch? Join a group of Tigers who will be gathering outside of Prinsengracht 256 (next to a bench along the canal) from 11.15 onward. Be sure to bring snacks and drinks!

Saturday evening: street parties until midnight

After the canal parade finishes, visit one of the many street parties around the city. Popular spots include Spuistraat, Zeedijk, Reguliersdwarsstraat and Dam Square. You can find a complete overview here. 

Farewell brunch

• Time: 11.45 – 14.30 (arrive by 12.30!)

• Info: Join us for the official farewell brunch in the centre of historic Amsterdam! Close out the weekend with fellow basketball players over some refreshingly healthy food. What’s included? A hearty soup, three sandwiches and coffee/tea. Have dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, etc.)? Let us know by email! Please make sure you arrive by 12.30 at the latest.

Sunday evening suggestion: Dam Square

You guessed it: it doesn’t stop on Saturday! Pride will have a large closing party on Dam Square until midnight. Join in the heart of the city to dance and celebrate one last time!
